The bioregion
Temperate rainforest, abundant water, good soil, a stable country, and 2.3 million hardy, independence-minded southerners who are used to looking after themselves. Governments plan for growth. We cover what they aren't covering: what the bioregion must have in place if a pandemic, a supply-chain shutdown or an input price shock cuts it off from the world for a few years.
What we did in 2026
The board, working with AI, measured the bioregion's real capitals (natural, built, human, social) against a decent-living standard, line by line. Nine ranked gaps, with numbers.
- 20 of 26 waste disposal sites past their design closure
- About 13 days of diesel cover
- Crop area fell 14% in one season when imported urea spiked (2022)
- Most households heat with firewood
What we're building
Labs, each aimed at a gap: thermal-mass heaters (carbon-credit pathway), community microgrids, biofertilizer from waste, agroecological farm networks, farm-machinery repair capacity. Red Resiliente, our community network, carries the work into towns and cooperatives. An investment vehicle for successful labs is in formation.
Who we are
A board based in Chile: a successful biotech entrepreneur and mentor, an investment manager and regional economic developer, a social-narrative builder who leads our community network, and a visionary Canadian social entrepreneur who chairs the board. Incorporated June 2026. Bylaws require operating within planetary boundaries.
What we're looking for
A few people who care about a region getting its fundamentals right before it's forced to, and who will invest early and keep showing up. First conversation: 30 minutes, any time in the next month.
